Presents Under the Tree

Okay, so now you have the tree decorated but you need some gifts to fill the empty space along the bottom. Again, I was inspired by my Fiance’s Dad to step up my present wrapping game. Prior to meeting him six years ago, I would quickly wrap some boxes last minute with any wrapping paper I liked from the store. And if that’s what you do too, that’s okay! It’s what’s in the box that matters. But I have to say, there is something magical about creating an art out of wrapping gifts, and synchronizing the wrapping paper to the tree the present is under - like Mr. Ron Pearson.

My fiance, Cole, and I have gone from one tree to two trees to now four trees in our home. One is gold and silver, one is silver, one is red, and the last is what the Pearson’s term the “snoopy” tree - a tree for the children filled with all their hand-made ornaments (or any of the other one-of-a-kind treasures you may be gifted over the years). Our snoopy tree is in our dog’s room (because yes, we are those type of people). We fill presents under every tree filled with gifts for our large families, and we coordinate the wrapping to the tree the gift is under.

My go-to store for wrapping paper is The Container Store. They have quality stuff, people! One lesson I have learned throughout the years is to forgo the glitter paper. First of all, it’s very difficult to wrap - you usually have to get special tape that takes much longer to use. Secondly, the stuff gets EVERYWHERE. If you’re traveling, expect to have the glitter trail from your tree, to your car, to your parents or in-laws trees (and trust me, they won’t be all that pleased about it).

I also get a lot of my ribbons/bows and gift tags from The Container Store. However, a local wholesale store called Reeves in Woodstock, GA has the best selection of ribbons. I like to make the bows myself with ribbon, so I also get some malleable green wire to create them.

Other stores I like to get supplies from are Target and Michaels. I also like to use non-traditional elements on the presents as well, like pinecones and greenery. For those elements, I get them from Reeves because they come with the pics already on them so you can easily attach it to the bows. However, I have found some good options at Michaels.

For the gift tags, I like to have a little more fun and be more creative with that touch!

Now, click on any of the images above and order yourself some gift-wrapping supplies! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
