Thanksgiving Tablescapes

Mmm… Thanksgiving. I can already smell the apple pie baking in the oven and taste my sister’s famous sweet potato casserole and stuffing in my mouth. Thanksgiving is one of the best holidays for any foodie, even if you aren’t a self-proclaimed “foodie”.

But in order to display your amazing Thanksgiving spread, you need a tablescape worthy of such deliciousness.

Our steps for building a Thanksgiving tablescape include the following:

  1. Pick out your place settings. This includes the plates, plate mats/chargers, silverware, napkins, napkin rings, and glasses/drinkware.

You can keep this really simple. Do what fits best for your family. This can be as basic as a paper napkin, fork, knife, plate, and cup.

I like to change it up, but most years I keep it neutral with a light colored plate, simple linen napkin, gold napkin ring, glass water cup, and a fall colored goblet.

2. Pick out a runner

You don’t always need a runner, but it is a great way to base and ground your tablescape. I like to go with something light, like a cream colored runner, and build off of that.

3. Choose what fruit/vegetable you want to accessorize with

Of course, I like to use something “fallish”, such as small white pumpkins, squashes, or pears.

4. Candles!

If anyone knows me, they know I love a good candle. But for a tablescape, I like to use non-scented, white or cream colored candles with cute candlestick holders dispersed throughout.

5. Finish with greenery

Again, if anyone knows me, they know I’m a plant lady. I love to accessorize tablescapes with greenery such as eucalyptus leaves or branches. For Thanksgiving, I also like to use pinecones, acorns, or sunflowers to spruce it up.

You can go so many different directions with your Thanksgiving tablescape decor. The important thing is to pick one main item to build off of, and follow your intuition for the rest, then voila, you have a beautiful tablescape to enjoy your family and stuff your face around.
